I work as a media producer (often on challenging academic research projects), and bring Richard Gott in as the first-choice sound recordist every time. Using a professional sound recordist means that more ambitious and dynamic filming can be accomplished, and the quality of Richard's sound is always top-notch. Of equal importance to me, Richard is deeply respectful of contributors, and able to interact effortlessly with people from all walks of life. He has the perfect intuition for when to be sociable, to put people at ease, but also for when to step back and have minimal presence. Our collaborative projects have taken place in testing environments, and I always have total faith in Richard's professionalism and ability to overcome new technical or practical challenges as they arise. Moreover, he is good company, and a pleasure to spend time with, and (even better) never condescending towards women!
